Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge pinned to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
